Everyone struggles with less than perfect skin. And in a world of constant photo sharing and status updating, the pressure is on to constantly have clear skin. The secret to clear skin isn’t a miracle product, in fact, it lies in your diet. Whoever came up with the old adage, “You are what you eat,”  was totally onto something. Here are five simple, tasty and effective smoothies.Well, it turns out sipping your way to a healthy complexion and clear skin is easier than ever. All it takes is a blender, your favorite fruits, some dark leafy green veggies and 10 minutes in the kitchen daily!

Monday

  • Mint leaves
  • Spinach
  • Cucumber
  • Water
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Tuesday

  • Spinach
  • Lettuce
  • Apple
  • Water
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Wednesday

  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Apple
  • Water
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Thursday

  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp of flax seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Friday

  • Banana
  • 2 spoonfuls flax seed
  • 1/2 cup almond milk or yogurt
  • Drizzle of honey

I only listed five smoothies for five days of the week, you can remake the ones you like the most for the weekend. To boost your smoothies, you can add chia seeds or almond butter or flax seeds or cacao or cinnamon or acai powder. You can play with the ingredients of your smoothies however you like. But the most powerful ingredients to help clear your skin are spinach, lettuce, and kale! You can make this a challenge, and drink these smoothies every day for 30 days to see results.

Aside from eating clean and healthy and drinking these smoothies, you need to follow these 3 steps in your skincare routine.

  1. Wash. Wash your face at least twice a day! I cannot stress this enough. Cleansing is very important! And you need to remove your makeup before you sleep, if you don’t, it’ll clog your pores and it’ll only result in more breakouts.
  2. Exfoliate. Exfoliating your skin removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin. This opens the way for moisturizing products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them more effective.
  3. Moisturize. You need to moisturize your face properly. You should be using a moisturizer based on your skin type. Using an oil based moisturizer can be terrible for acne-prone skin.
